Hundreds of people lined up in California last Friday, waiting to enjoy Russian River Pliny the Younger. It was the annual release that will last only until Valentine’s Day. What is all the hype? Well, it is #3 on the RateBeer Best 50 Beers of 2012, and unlike the two beers ahead of it (Westvleteren 12 and Pliny the Younger’s Older Uncle, Pliny the Elder), it is not brewed year round, or even bottled. In fact, you can not even get a growler - it must be consumed onsite. So for those of us so many miles away here in Michiana, we are just out of luck.
By 10 AM (an hour before Russian River Brewing opened) more than 300 people were already in line. Here is a youtube video.
