Bell’s Black Note Released in 4 Packs

4 packs of 12 oz. bottles of Black Note at Bell’s General Store

Today I confirmed that Bell’s Brewery indeed has released their Black Note (bourbon barrel aged imperial stout, 11.5% ABV) in 4 packs of 12 oz. bottles.  Previously, this has only been available from Bell’s General Store in 750 ml corked and caged bottles and on draft at very select locations.  Since I was heading through Kalamazoo this evening, I stopped to check things out.

Black Note 4 packIt is a one case limit per customer at $131.99 + tax and bottle deposit.  I also ran into Larry Bell at the bar and had a nice chat with him.  He told me that these 4 packs (the first Bell’s 4 packs that I’m aware of) hit distribution in Ann Arbor today, and will hit the rest of MI very soon.  As of this evening when I called three different bottle shops in Kalamazoo, they not only had not received any, but they were not even aware of Black Note being distributed.  Larry called this one of the greatest kept secrets of the Black Note Secret Society.

In addiiton, I checked with Indiana Beverage, and yes we will be getting about 8-10 cases to cover all of Northern Indiana.  I’m guessing that it will be a 1  4-pack limit at the very most, and may even be a 1 or 2 bottle limit per customer.

Dagger Stout

While at the Eccentric Cafe, I also enjoyed a Dagger Stout (imperial stout, 10.5% ABV) with my dinner.  Dagger Stout is the same recipe as the infamous Batch 7,000 and is quite good fresh.  Dagger Stout is only available on draft, but I am lucky enough to still have a few bottles of Batch 7,000 left.  I most recently opened one at the Bell’s Patio Party at the Fat Tomato.
