The 77,752-square-foot expansion of Jayco’s Entegra Coach manufacturing facility is done at Jayco’s Middlebury campus, and with the surge in motorhome sales in the RV industry, it’s a good time for Jayco to add the production capacity.
“The market for our products is strong and growing,” said Derald Bontrager, president and chief executive of Jayco. “Our order backlog for motorhomes has increased to the point where it is putting pressure on our ability to provide products to our customers in a timely manner. We’re confident that this increased production capacity will allow us to take better advantage of the opportunities presented by the improving marketplace.”
The addition, which also includes new restrooms, break rooms, offices, a truck dock and a mezzanine, was a $2.9 million investment and should add a total of up to 65 jobs over the next couple of years, the company announced last fall.
Since then, the RV industry’s growth has continued, especially in motorhomes this year. Through May, class A motorhomes – which the Entegra line encompasses — are up 28.1 percent for the year over last year, which saw single-digit growth over 2011.
Jayco, headquartered in Middlebury is the third largest RV company and is the largest privately owned RV company.
