Ma’s is closed.
There’s a chance that it could be purchased by someone and reopened, but it’s not likely to be with the same owners.
I don’t know what the chances of that are. The restaurant and bar at 12394 Riverside Dr., White Pigeon, has a letter posted on the door by the Michigan Department of Treasury. That document indicates that the assets will be sold at an auction on June 10.
That’s never a good sign. That likely means that taxes weren’t being paid.
The owners had put a sign on the door, and put it on Facebook, that they were closing due to circumstances beyond their control. But a message followed this past weekend indicating they wouldn’t reopen.
I’m curious whether anyone purchasing the assets would get the secret fried chicken recipe. That chicken was what drew people to the place and helped make it special.
Ma’s was a family friendly place people went out of their way to visit. It’s a shame that it’s likely gone.
