Venturi named one of Midwest’s great pizzerias

Aventuri

Pizzeria Venturi, 123 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen, has made another significant list for its pizza.

“Midwest Living” magazine included the pizzeria in its most recent issue for being one of the “27 Great Midwest Pizzerias.”

If you go to the website, Venturi comes up first in the slideshow of 16 pizzerias and then others are mentioned for topping combinations or other items. It’s a cool honor for the Goshen pizzeria. Justin Venturi oversees a kitchen and an Italian wood-fired oven that bakes a pizza in about a minute.

The pizzeria has certification from Vera Pizza Napoletana demonstrating that it makes pizza the way it’s done in Naples. It’s the only restaurant in Ohio and Indiana with the certification.

In October, Venturi made an Esquire list of life-changing pizzas.

Not bad for a restaurant that started in early 2011. It makes great pizza and is getting a lot of attention.

The pizzeria’s fig pizza made my 2012 list of my favorite flavors.

My original review and one by Katie Carpenter on her eTruth.com blog also tell you more.

Here’s a review on Midwest Living’s site as well.

The restaurant does not accept reservations. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, 11:30 to 1:30 Wednesday through Friday. Menus for lunch and dinner vary. Phone: 574-485-2985.
