A year ago, Mini Delights Bake Shoppe created a cupcake that had Guinness. It debuted in the month of March, shortly before the start of Cupcake Quest.

This year, Ashley Krieg and Summer Lewis got talking, probably over a beer at Iechyd Da Brewing Co., and a new cupcake was born.

Meet BrewDelicious.

For the month of March, the bakery at 217 S. Main St., Elkhart, is using Breakfast Cookies Milk Stout in a cupcake. Kelly Bowdoin is baking a chocolate cupcake with the sweet, rich beer and topping it with a cream cheese frosting.

“It’s a special cupcake just for them,” said Ashley Krieg, Kelly’s daughter and the shop’s manager.

You can get a mini cupcake for $1.25 at the bakery. If you have one, you won’t have beer on your breath when you go back to work.

But after work, you could go to Iechyd Da to have one with a 5-ounce pour of the stout itself. A cupcake by itself is $1.25 there as well.

Summer came up with the name for the moist cupcake.

I love it when businesses collaborate like this. I think it makes both businesses stronger. Chip Lewis makes great beer. Kelly Bowdoin makes great cupcakes. Together, they have something no other business could offer. That’s cool. Even on a snowy March day.
