Terry Patten decided it was time to slow down.
So he closed Terry’s Pizza & Sub, 426 N. Main St., Middlebury.
He operated it for 17 years. He put the place on the market and thought he had a buyer. So far, the sale hasn’t come through.
“The price varies,” he’s said, depending on whether a buyer would want the equipment, inventory, recipes and name. “It’s going to go cheap.”
He still owns Piper’s in Sturgis, but decided it was time to be done in Middlebury. “It was just time to back down a bit. I’m 62,” he said.
Terry’s made and sold pizza and subs similar to the Piper’s that he still operates or the one that is still open in Constantine. There was one in Goshen for a time as well and I still miss that one.
He had eight employees when he shut down on Dec. 28.
For now, the restaurant is “in limbo,” he said. Only time will tell if it reopens.
